The
Commission is on course for Computerization of the Examination
activities and the Office activities. The total cost of the
project is Rs. 35 Lac and shall be carried out in two phases.
In the financial year 2002-2003 the Government of Punjab
allocated Rs.15 lacs for automation/ computerization of the
office of Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala. The
Department of Information and Technology, Government of Punjab
invited the bids for Automation/ Computerization.
Subsequently, the job has been assigned to the M/s
Semiconductor Complex Limited, Mohali. The Phase-I shall cost
Rs. 19,11,340/-. One IBM @ 205 Server, 4 IBM Net Vista PC’s, 1
Laser Printer, 1 Dot Matrix Printer, 1 Deskjet Printer, 1
Scanner & 5 UPS alongwith the Networking components have been
ordered. The main aim of this project is to cope with the
increasing volume of applications through automated handling
so as to reduce the processing time and send communications
faster and error free. Presently the Commission has "EXAMINER"
Software System for examination based activities only.
Application forms for all recruitment including the
interview-based selections will be scanned by using the high
speed OMR technology. This will also eliminate the errors due
to manual Data Entry. Other benefits of this system will be
accurate and faster generation of Admit Cards, Attendance
lists, Seating Plans, Date Sheet and Error-free list of
doubtful cases.
The Phase-II
shall cost Rs. 12,66,000/-. The Finance and Accounts modules,
Stores and Purchase Functions and Dak/Grievances Monitoring
modules shall be integrated in to the system. The Government
of Punjab has ensured the Commission to give the balance
amount of Rs. 2 Lac in the ensuing financial year i.e
2006-07.
